The No. 1 Golf Resort in Texas Appoints Director of Finance and Barton Creek Country Club Introduces Director of Operations

AUSTIN, Texas (April 5, 2017) – Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa announced today the appointment of Tom Chagnon as director of finance and Barton Creek Country Club introduced Riaan Nel as director of operations. As director of finance for the resort, Chagnon is responsible for the accounting and control functions, while ensuring timely reporting of operating results and maintaining the integrity of the management information system.  In his newly created role, Nel will oversee all operational aspects of Barton Creek Country Club, including food and beverage, tennis and fitness operations, as well as the Kids Club. 

For the last 13 years, Chagnon worked as director of finance for numerous Starwood Hotels & Resort properties in the southeastern United States. Most recently, he was the director of finance for the Westin Hilton Head in South Carolina. During his time with Starwood, Chagnon served as a regional auditor, regional mentor for new finance directors, and worked on numerous task force assignments for the company.  He began his career with Sea Crest Resort in Falmouth, MA, before moving to Starwood. 

Nel rejoins Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa from White Lodging Services Corporation, where he served as the general manager of the Auburn Hills Marriott in Pontiac, MI. Prior, he was the director of food and beverage at Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa from 2014 – 2015. Nel served in the same capacity for the Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh, PA. He also held leadership roles with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and the Hyatt Hotels Corporation.
