After opening in September 2015, The Broad has quickly become a popular visitor destination in downtown Los Angeles as an art, entertainment and culture hub. Founded by philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad, the museum is home to more than 2,000 works of art and holds one of the most prominent collections of postwar and contemporary art worldwide. The museum features several works by Andy Warhol, Cindy Sherman, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Jeff Koons and Jasper Johns, among many others.
The Broad, with its unique “veil and vault” concept, was designed by world-renowned architecture firm Diller Scofidio + Renfro (DS+R) in collaboration with Gensler. The museum sits on Grand Avenue and neighbors Frank Gehry’s iconic Walt Disney Concert Hall, MOCA, the Los Angeles Music Center, Mark Taper Forum, Ahmanson Theater and the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
