OMNI BARTON CREEK RESORT & SPA APPOINTS DIRECTOR OF GOLF OPERATIONS
AUSTIN, Texas (January 23, 2019) – Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa announces the appointment of Spencer Cody as director of golf operations overseeing the four championship courses that serve as core assets to the Barton Creek Country Club in addition to the resort. While the Country Club has remained open serving an elite group of members, the Austin Hill Country resort is currently undergoing a significant $150-million renovation relaunching in May 2019. The transformed Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa 4,000-acre property will feature a new hotel tower and arrival experience, expansive Mokara Spa & Salon, seven dining experiences, a new tennis complex, a new conference center and events pavilion as well as its signature four championship golf courses. In this new role, Cody is responsible for all golf operations including membership and resort play along with revenue management, retail and operations. Cody will join the existing staff that includes the longtime valued director of golf, Phillip Marburger.

Cody joins the Omni Barton Creek team as the former private director of golf at PGA WEST in La Quinta, CA. With three private courses, 108 total golf holes and 2,000+ members as well as the host site of the Desert Classic PGA Tour Event (formerly Career Builders), Cody was responsible for the overall member experience, club marketing, membership events and golf operations, and assisted the marketing team with revenue management for the nine courses that make up the LA Quinta Resort and PGA WEST. Prior to that, Cody spent nine successful years at the Revere Golf Club in Las Vegas, NV, and helped open Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson, AZ at the Casino Del Sol Resort.
Originally from Ontario, Oregon and raised in the Reno/Tahoe area, Cody was an avid baseball player as a child. As a freshman, before baseball season started, he tried out for his varsity high school golf team and to his surprise; he made the team as a natural golfer. Cody’s father, a three-sport All-American collegiate athlete hoped his son would follow in his footsteps and play baseball, but he made the tough decision to stay in golf and he’s never looked back. After high school, Cody studied Architecture and Computer Sciences at Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) in Reno and University of Nevada (UNLV) in Las Vegas. During this time, Spencer decided to pursue a career in the golf industry and entered into the PGA Program. Along with working full-time at the Revere Golf Club and taking courses at UNLV, Cody completed the PGA Program in a near record time of two years and was elected to PGA Membership in September of 2011.
Cody enjoys outdoor sports including snowboarding, fishing, camping, off-roading and spending time with his wife Ruthie and his new daughter, Oakley Anne Cody.
