Omni Louisville Hotel Celebrates Ribbon Cutting and Opens Doors to First Guests
City’s newest hotel welcomes visitors and locals to experience Louisville luxury and culture
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 6, 2018) – After more than two years of construction,
Omni Louisville Hotel, the city’s tallest and most upscale hotel, is open following a ceremonial ribbon cutting. In a nod to Louisville’s Kentucky Derby tradition, a Churchill Downs bugler played “Call to the Post” followed by “My Old Kentucky Home” as Governor Matt Bevin and Mayor Greg Fischer joined leaders from Omni Hotels & Resorts to cut a red ribbon leading to the hotel’s front doors. Louisville residents, philanthropists and military family, Shelia M. Brookins and Army National Guard SFC Darrell Brookins, were welcomed as Omni Louisville’s first official guests in front of more than 300 attendees.
“Each Omni property is designed to reflect the local culture of its city and Louisville is no exception,” said Robert Rowling, owner and chairman of TRT Holdings, Inc., parent company of Omni Hotels & Resorts. “Louisville is a dynamic, vibrant city with a rich history and unbeatable culture. We’ve worked hard to make sure Omni Louisville Hotel reflects the city’s warmth and hospitality and we’re thrilled to welcome all our guests for an unforgettable experience.”
Omni Louisville Hotel is a $300 million investment by Omni Hotels & Resorts and Metro Louisville. The project has created nearly 400 permanent jobs. With more than 20 distinct amenities, including a 20,000 square foot urban market and food hall, a speakeasy with a bowling alley, extensive event spaces, a local art gallery and a luxury spa, Omni Louisville is a destination for visitors and locals alike.
“Louisville is an important gateway to the Commonwealth, and the Omni Louisville Hotel is an outstanding partner in welcoming people to Kentucky,” said Governor Matt Bevin. “The Omni Louisville Hotel reflects the authenticity and charm of our state and provides a new attraction to guests as they explore all that Kentucky has to offer. We are grateful to Omni Hotels for this significant investment in our community.”
“Over the last two years, we’ve watched the Omni climb 30 stories into our skyline, while inside the hotel, the Omni team carefully curated every item in this building to reflect our city’s culture and personality,” said Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer. “Now, this long-dormant block is a vibrant development – a catalyst for continued growth and investment in our city.”
“We’ve been waiting for this day since the construction team broke ground in January 2016,” said Scott Stuckey, general manager of Omni Louisville Hotel. “We hope that Louisville will come to see Omni as the city’s new front door, and we can’t wait to welcome all our guests for an authentic Louisville experience.”
