OMNI BEDFORD SPRINGS RESORT & SPA TEES OFF THE 2017 GOLF SEASON WITH A NEW CLUBHOUSE AT THE OLD COURSE, AMERICAN CUISINE DINING VENUE AND SIGNATURE “UNLIMITED GOLF PACKAGE”
The latest addition to the 2,200-acre Allegheny Mountain retreat pays homage to resort’s enduring history and continues the evolution of its award-winning Old Course
Bedford Springs, Pa. (May 16, 2017) -
Omni Bedford Springs Resort & Spa in the scenic Allegheny Mountains of south-central Pennsylvania is elevating its golf experience with the debut of a new Clubhouse at the Old Course in June 2017. Located adjacent to the 18th hole of the Old Course, the $2.5 million Clubhouse at the Old Course pays homage to the resort’s historic legacy and incorporates many modern amenities that will delight guests and members. The new Clubhouse at the Old Course is the latest development in the continuing progression of golf at the resort, where play began in 1895.
To celebrate the momentous development for this historic property, the resort is hosting a Grand Opening celebration Friday, June 9, 2017. The event will host local dignitaries, stakeholders, golf members and hotel guests with activities throughout the afternoon.
In a tribute to master golf architect A.W. Tillinghast who oversaw a 1912 redesign of the Old Course, the facility will house Tillie’s, a new dining option for resort guests and day visitors. The interior design and finishes of the restaurant and additional spaces marry the resort’s traditional style with a handsome, masculine edge. The extensive Millwork and leather furnishings create a warm and inviting atmosphere for guests.
Tillie’s features a bar overlooking the Old Course, a cozy fireside lounge and an outdoor terrace with panoramic views of the surrounding Allegheny Mountains. The restaurant will be able to seat approximately 80 guests when utilizing both the indoor and outdoor living spaces. The menu will feature a variety of classic American dishes, as well as new signature and classic cocktails including the Old Fashioned and Blueberry Arnold Palmer, which both use the resort’s exclusive Wigle Rye and Bourbon, respectively.
The resort’s Pro Shop will also be relocated from the Spa Wing of the resort to the Clubhouse at the Old Course. The Pro Shop offers Taylor Made and Titleist Golf Clubs for sale as well as daily rental, and features a complete line of men’s and women’s resort and casual attire and equipment.
Be among the first to experience the new Clubhouse at the Old Course with the “
Unlimited Golf Package” including unlimited rounds of golf, and use of the resort’s practice facility, as well as deluxe room accommodations. Guests are also invited to visit the award-winning
Springs Eternal Spa to experience the resort’s signature Bedford Bath Ritual using waters from the eight on-site springs, or an Oldham & Ross Warm Up Session to get prepped for a day on the links.
A Long History of Resort Golf
One of the country’s first golf courses, the award-winning Old Course remains one of Pennsylvania’s most popular courses. First laid out with 18 holes by Spencer Oldham in 1895, the course was redesigned and reduced to 9 holes by Tillinghast in 1912, and then redesigned back to 18 holes in 1918 before being completed by Donald Ross in the 1920s. A renovation by Forse Design in the early part of the new millennium returned the course to its original layout while enabling water features near every hole, befitting its location next to Shobers Run creek. With bentgrass tees, plush greens, well-manicured fairways, and rich history, a round of golf on the Old Course is a must-play for golf enthusiasts of all levels.
