RIB ROOM ANNOUNCES NEW EXECUTIVE CHEF

New Orleans, LA (July 30, 2012) — The Rib Room  at Omni Royal Orleans Hotel announces the hiring of Michael Gottlieb as the restaurant’s executive chef. He will oversee menu creation and daily specials at the Rib Room, as well as the hotel’s catered events. While the restaurants focus will remain rotisserie driven, a new menu is currently being developed. 

“Michael is an extremely knowledgeable and talented chef. He has a great pedigree and an abundant passion for meats and great food,” said Jon Hunter, Omni Royal Orleans general manager. “We are very fortunate to have found the perfect chef to honor the tradition of The Rib Room, while contributing relevance to the menu and concept. Michael truly is the perfect fit for the Rib Room.” 

Upon graduating from Johnson & Wales in Providence, RI, chef Michael Gottlieb advanced to the Inn at Perry Cabin in St. Michaels, MD, and the renowned Inn at Little Washington before returning to his hometown of Savannah, GA. In Savannah, Michael, along with brothers Richard and chef Laurence Gottlieb, opened Gottlieb’s Restaurant and Dessert Bar. The restaurant was a AAA Four Diamond Awarded establishment inspired by the Gottlieb family’s famed bakery which, for over 100 years, was a Savannah tradition. After closing the restaurant in 2006, Michael moved to New Orleans to work with the Ralph Brennan Restaurant Group. 

The award-winning chef – he took home a silver medal at the New Orleans Wine and Food Experience and won the United Way’s “Best Seafood Gumbo Cook-Off”– has been enamored with New Orleans since making it his home in 2009. 

“My passions are great food and music, so living and working in a city that is the pinnacle of both is a dream come true,” said Gottlieb. “I’m inspired daily by the vibrancy of New Orleans, the abundance of local resources and of course by the city’s extreme hospitality.”
