When the air gets crisp and the leaves begin to change color, you know autumn has arrived. Whether you’re hiking the Cascades Gorge or simply taking it all in from Jefferson’s terrace, each moment captured here is breathtaking. We’ve compiled the top seven ways to see fall foliage to help you discover the magic of the season at The Omni Homestead Resort.
Mountain Biking
A great way to enjoy the fall foliage is on a scenic bike ride. The resort offers over 100 miles of hiking and biking trails right outside their door. Mountain bikes are available to rent on the property, so grab a bike and enjoy the crisp autumn air.
Equestrian Center
Head to the Equestrian Center for two different options for viewing the fall foliage. Saddle up for a memorable horseback ride on trails through the wooded forest. Or, for those who wish to view the foliage at a more leisurely pace, take a carriage ride and see the tranquil countryside of Virginia. Either way, you’ll see gorgeous fall foliage through your Equestrian Center experience.
Golf
For history buffs and golf aficionados alike, our challenging and historic fairways are the perfect way to take in the breathtaking magic of fall. Swing into the season at The Cascades, set against the backdrop of the incredible Allegheny Mountains or the Old Course, home to the nation’s oldest first tee in continuous use. Regardless of how you play, your day will be made memorable by Mother Nature’s stunning and colorful display.
Cascades Gorge Hike
Get closer to nature on one of our most popular activities: the Cascades Gorge Hike. On this tour, you’ll be led and entertained by a naturalist through a series of beautiful waterfalls alongside a deep, Allegheny Mountain gorge trail. See the changing leaves up close alongside regional and unusual flora and fauna. This three-mile journey is one of the most beautiful in the region and is sure to inspire dreams of fall.
The Homestead S’mores Express
A taste of nostalgia greets you on The Homestead S’mores Express through our beautiful resort. As you see the rolling hills and mountains draped behind our historic resort, you’ll be reminded of simpler times. Leaves in hues of orange, yellow and red are peppered along the mountainside, signaling the changing seasons. Your tractor-led ride ends on a sweet note with s’mores at the Mountain Lodge, where you’ll get another gorgeous glimpse of fall.
Shooting Club
The views at our Shooting Club are simply breathtaking. Take a shuttle to our historic Shooting Club to take in the 360° views of the season. While you’re there, test your skills on the trap and skeet fields or enjoy a challenging round of sporting clays. Before you depart, go to the pavilion which overlooks the George Washington National Forest.
Dinner in Jefferson’s
Cap off your day with dinner in Jefferson’s for a front-row seat of the great outdoors. Savor regionally sourced dishes such as Allegheny Mountain trout. Whether you choose to dine on the terrace or take it all in from inside with floor-to-ceiling windows, you’ll see the fire of fall set before you during a sunset dinner in our most popular restaurant.
