La Costa: Celebrating 50 Years Of History And Inspiration

In 1965, a real estate developer stumbled upon a lush valley that combined natural beauty with perfect weather: and the vision for La Costa was born. In 2015,  Omni La Costa Resort & Spa celebrated its 50th Anniversary  and we took a look back at what has become known as “The La Costa Lifestyle.”

La Costa was originally conceived as a residential resort with activities and instruction for all ages. The 40 hotel units were available to guests for $22 per night which included green, tennis, stable and pool fees. Hollywood’s elite, including Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Bob Hope, came to La Costa to experience an escape from everyday life.

The resort grew in popularity as word spread of its acclaimed spa, exceptional golf courses, tennis courts and luxurious guest accommodations. La Costa went on to host prominent sporting events such as the Davis Cup and the Tournament of Champions, in addition to accommodating some of the world’s most powerful people including Richard Nixon, Jackie Kennedy, and Chief Justice Earl Warren.

Omni La Costa has continued to attract guests seeking wellness and relaxation. A $50 million renovation modernized the resort, heightening the air of luxury and service while maintaining a rich sense of history and status. Now, Omni La Costa Resort & Spa is one of the premier destinations in Southern California boasting two award-winning 18-hole golf courses and more than 600 guest rooms spanning 400 acres in Carlsbad.

As we celebrate 50 years of the La Costa Lifestyle, guests can stroll down the plaza listening to iconic music from the 1950s, or enjoy our signature Nifty Fifty cocktail at Blue Fire Grill.
