Things to Do in Richmond

Byrd Theatre

This non-profit theatre in Carytown is more than 80 years old and was named after the city’s founder, William Byrd II. It houses 1,300 seats where visitors can enjoy a second-run movie and soak in the historic ambiance of the unaltered architecture of the theatre. If there’s one thing you need to do in Richmond, visiting the Byrd Theatre is it.

Monument Avenue

This historic avenue is the only street in America listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Monuments Avenue memorializes Virginia natives such as Robert E. Lee, H.E.B. Stuart and Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson. As if the monuments aren’t enough, the Colonial-style homes that line Monuments Avenue are incredible eye candy.

Hollywood Cemetery

We know it sounds weird, but believe us on this one. Hollywood Cemetery is a national treasure that has plenty of stories to tell. It serves as the final resting place for two American presidents, six Virginia governors, two Supreme Court justices and many more. It is set apart from other cemeteries by its history and natural and architectural beauty. Whether you take a leisure walk or a guided tour, a visit to Hollywood is definitely worth it.
