If you’re stuck at home and not able to go about your daily routine, you’re sure to get stir-crazy at some point, and most likely itching to get out and about. We’ve put together a list of our favorite Netflix movies to keep you company that are filled with inspiration, feel-good comedy, travel-envy, and adventure. 

We’ll get through this together with a little help from our friend, Netflix.

1. The 100 Foot Journey

Keep your spirits high with this feel-good film about a family who picks up their lives in India and heads to France to open a restaurant that happens to end up next to a Michelin-starred establishment. The intricacies of culture, family-relationships, and culinary creativity are explored to form a well-rounded movie full of quirkiness and sincerity that is sure to leave you inspired.

 

2. Wine Country

All your SNL favorites come together for an unforgettable girl’s trip about the complexity of lifelong friendship and inevitable experience of growing older together. This movie lets you temporarily escape to Napa Valley and live vicariously through this hilarious tale of friendship with wine tastings, lots of laughs, heart-warming conversations, and of course, those sought-after wine country views.

 

3. The Tourist

Fulfill all your European globe-trotting dreams with this thriller set in the heart of Italy. Johnny Depp plays an American tourist set out to heal his broken heart when he comes across a mysterious woman played by Angelina Jolie. What happens next takes you on an espionage adventure of cat and mouse that never fails to keep you guessing.

 

4. Like Father

The endearing Kristen Bell is cast as a workaholic who takes off on what was supposed to be her Caribbean honeymoon cruise after getting jilted at the altar. Plot twist: she embarks with an unexpected companion—her estranged father. It’s an honest and surprisingly unpredictable spin on a complicated father-daughter relationship that will make you laugh and make you cry. What more could you ask for, right?

 

5. Murder Mystery

Two of Hollywood’s most beloved actors come together in a comedy built on mystery and intrigue. Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler deliver a charismatic performance of their European escapades that feels reminiscent of a classic game of clue. Transport yourself to another world of crime-solving comedic relief right from your own living room.

Feeling like an Abu Dhabi adventure with all your closest friends right about now? Us too. Get your fix of fun times, fashion, and world travel in the sexy sequel to the classic we all know and love when Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda set out on gals’ getaway for the ages.

We couldn’t help but wonder… will Netflix please just put the whole series up already?

 

7. The Talented Mr. Ripley

An extravagant trip abroad isn’t what it seems in this psychological thriller starring Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Jude Law. An academy-award nominated melodrama, this film paints the picture of how far a desperate man is willing to go to get the life he’s always wanted. A stellar performance by a young Matt Damon makes this a must-see.

 

8. Kodachrome

An emotionally charged cross-country road trip to preserve family ties is exactly what we all need right now. Jason Sudeikis plays a struggling exec that hits the road with his out-of-touch father for one last trip to freeze family moments in film forever…. queue the Kodachrome title. Get your tissues ready for this one, folks.

 

9. Holiday in the Wild

Baby elephants? Say no more. This holiday rom-com set in the south of Africa is the definition of a feel-good movie. As if we needed more reasons to love Rob Lowe, he stars as a charming elephant conservationist who forms a special bond with a woman named Kate (Kristin Davis) amidst her journey of self-discovery after heartbreak. Time to kick up your feet and pretend you’re on an African safari.

 

10. Wild Oats

Sow your wild oats and head abroad to the Canary Islands with Shirley Maclaine for the trip of a lifetime. A life-changing insurance check worth millions inspires a hilarious jaunt of two women learning how to feel young again. You’ll laugh, and then you’ll laugh some more—all while getting to experience the beauty that is Gran Canaria.

 

11. By the Sea

Travel back in time to the coast of France in this 1970’s soap opera. The idyllic scenery is enough to garner our attention, but the cast captures it completely. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt play a solemn couple whose marriage is on the rocks because of harbored feelings from the past. Although the subject-matter is heavy, the awe-inspiring setting brings a sense of hope and optimism to an otherwise troubled time.

 

12. Fundamentals of Caring

Last but not least: the tale of an unlikely friendship that develops on an impromptu road trip across the country to see the best of the best in roadside attractions. You’ll learn a lot about love, a lot about coping with tragedy, and even more about—you guessed it—the fundamentals of caring (which is something we could all use a bit of right now).
